Seattle SoDo (South of Downtown) is Washington's newest wine tasting destination

The last couple years has seen a blossoming of tasting rooms in Seattle's southern downtown region. While SoDo does not seem like an obvious wine tasting area, it really works... The area now boasts excellent wineries, a taproom, an upscale pizzeria and more. The majority of the new tasting rooms are located at SoDo UrbanWorks, an industrial business park located in the heart of South Seattle. UrbanWorks is home to an eclectic mix of tenants and is a must-visit wine tasting destination for visitors to Seattle or those that call the city home.

Nine Hats Wines

Launched in 2007, Nine Hats Wines is a sister-brand of the popular Walla Walla winery Long Shadows. Nine Hats was originally inspired by Long Shadows’ team of nine internationally renowned vintners. In the beginning, there was one Nine Hats wine, a red blend created from Long Shadows’ declassified barrels to support the winemakers’ ongoing, strict selection process for their signature wines. The overwhelming success of the first red wine led to the expansion of the project, with Nine Hats now showcasing a portfolio of nine uniquely sophisticated wines.

The wines are styled for quality and everyday enjoyment. Nine Hats recently opened their tasting room in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood in the heart of South Seattle. Just a mile and a half from Safeco Field, Nine Pies Pizzeria adjoins the tasting room, offering New York-style pizzas by the slice, whole pies, pasta, and more.

Wines Offered: Red Blend, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Rosé

Patterson Cellars

Winemaker and Owner, John Patterson, creates approachable wines that reflect the new world style in winemaking. Wines from the Patterson Cellars portfolio receive 90+ points from Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and Wine Advocate from year to year, which speaks to the quality, consistency and caliber of the wine he creates. Patterson Cellars has four tasting rooms throughout Washington, each providing a unique wine tasting experience. The newly opened SoDo tasting room brings wine country to Seattle in a modern lofty space with outdoor seating.

Varietals Produced: Petit Verdot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Blends, White Blends

Waters Winery

Walla Walla is a Native American name that means 'Place of Many Waters'. Waters Winery started in 2005 and has deep roots in the Walla Walla Valley. Winemaker Jamie Brown grew up in Walla Walla and is known for making consistently balanced and elegant wines from Washington State. His passion for wine and music come together resulting in beautiful crafted Rhône and Bordeaux style wines.

Waters produces just a few thousand cases of small-lot bottlings each year, aimed at reflecting the unique character of each varietal and the qualities of the land that they come from. Visit the beautiful SODO tasting room to enjoy the wines and meet with the friendly and knowledgable staff!
